CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRIES

At Bridgeport United Methodist Church, we believe children and youth are not the church of tomorrow, but an essential part of the church today. From their earliest years through young adulthood, we seek to nurture faith that is rooted in God’s love, shaped by Scripture, and lived out through compassion and service.

We are committed to creating spaces where children and youth are known, welcomed, and encouraged to grow—asking questions, discovering their gifts, and learning what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life. Together with families, we walk alongside the next generation as they grow in faith, hope, and love.

Children's Ministries

At Bridgeport United Methodist Church, our ministry with children is rooted in the belief that faith is formed over time—through love, trust, and shared life in the church. We seek to create a welcoming and nurturing environment where children are known by name, surrounded by care, and invited to grow in their understanding of God’s love.

Through age-appropriate teaching, worship experiences, and opportunities to serve alongside their families, children are encouraged to explore Scripture, learn the stories of faith, and discover that they belong to God and to the community of the church. We value curiosity and questions, recognizing that faith grows best in spaces where children are free to wonder, learn, and grow.

Our children’s ministries partner closely with parents and caregivers, honoring the vital role families play in faith formation. Together, we seek to nurture faith that is grounded in grace, shaped by love of neighbor, and responsive to God’s call in the world.

Youth Ministries

At Bridgeport United Methodist Church, our youth ministry seeks to create a space where young people are welcomed as they are and encouraged to grow into who God is calling them to be. We recognize that adolescence is a time of exploration, questioning, and discovery, and we believe faith can be honest, thoughtful, and resilient in the midst of it all.

Youth are invited into a community where relationships matter—where they are known by caring adults, supported by peers, and trusted with meaningful participation in the life of the church. Through worship, study, service, and shared experiences, young people are encouraged to deepen their faith, explore Scripture, and reflect on what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world.

Service and mission are central to our youth ministry. Young people are given opportunities to serve alongside one another and with the wider church, learning that faith is not only something we talk about, but something we live—through compassion, justice, and love of neighbor.

Our goal is to nurture a faith that endures beyond youth group—a faith rooted in grace, strengthened through community, and responsive to God’s call in every season of life.

Safety and Care

The safety and well-being of children and youth are a sacred trust. At Bridgeport United Methodist Church, we are committed to providing environments where young people are cared for with attentiveness, respect, and responsibility.

All volunteers and staff who work with children and youth follow the Safe Sanctuaries policies of the United Methodist Church, which include appropriate screening, training, and supervision practices. These guidelines help ensure that our ministries are grounded in care, accountability, and healthy boundaries.

We strive to create spaces where children and youth feel safe, welcomed, and valued—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If you have questions or concerns about safety practices, we welcome conversation and are glad to share more about how we seek to care well for every child and young person entrusted to us.
