Christian marriage is a covenant celebrated within the life of the church. At Bridgeport United Methodist Church, weddings are understood as Services of Worship and are ordinarily celebrated for members of the congregation or those with an established connection to the church.
Couples seeking marriage at Bridgeport UMC are expected to work closely with the pastor assigned to their wedding to plan a service that reflects the Christian understanding of marriage. Premarital counseling is required for all weddings and will be scheduled with the assigned pastor as part of the preparation process.
