Portal Praise Opens Door for Contemporary Worship

Portal_News03

Both Mid-High and Senior High Youth came together on Sunday, August 26, for an evening of praise and worship featuring contemporary Christian band, Portal.

The concert kicked-off a new year of Youth Ministry at Bridgeport UMC. Everyone was asked to bring their favorite dessert and share in celebration of the joy that comes from serving an awesome God.

According to its website, Portal derived its name from John 10:9 where Jesus said, "I am the door..." .

The Strong's Concordance says the meaning of the word 'door' is a portal. Jesus is the portal that non-Christians must use to get into God's presence.

Psalms 100:4 says "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise...".

Band members say “Praise and worship is the portal that Christians use to get into God's presence.”

The Parkersburg based band wants its ministry to help lead non-Christians into the presence of God through the message of Salvation and lead Christians into His presence through praise and worship.
