Bridgeport United Methodist Music Ministries work “to glorify God in worship and to minister to the congregation in ways that provide for spiritual growth as well as enjoyment and inspiration in worship.” Music is one of the important ways we work to provide a spiritual environment to those who gather to celebrate the love of God through worship.
Adult Music
- Chancel Choir - Sings Sundays during the 10:45 a.m. Worship Service (occasionally sing at 8:30 Worship Service). Rehearsal: Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. (Child care can be arranged).
- Matin Ringers - Rings for worship about every other month. Rehearsal: Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30 a.m. (Child care always provided.)
- Evensong Ringers - Rings for worship about every other month. This intergenerational group performs and rehearses with the Senior High Youth Alpha Omega Ringers. Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:45-6:30 p.m.
- Taize Worship Leaders - Adult and youth instrumentalists and vocalists lead Taize prayers as scheduled. Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:00-5:45 p.m.
- String Ensemble - Adult and youth string players perform as scheduled. Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:00-5:45 p.m.
Children and Youth Music
From playing instruments in occasional small ensembles to playing choir chimes, handbells, drums, orff instruments, and singing in a choir, all children and youth are invited to participate in our Music Ministry. Our mission is to “enrich young lives through the sharing of sacred music, hymns and spiritual songs, while also teaching worship leadership and musicianship.” Offering their music for Sunday morning worship, Christmas pageants, musicals, choir tours, and other church services and events, young persons share the love of God through their gifts.
- Cherub Choir (Ages 4-1st grade) - Sings monthly for 10:45 a.m. Worship Service. Rehearsal: Tuesdays from 3:30-4:00 p.m. (Van transportation from schools)
- Jubilate Singers (Grades 2-5) - Sings monthly for 10:45 a.m. Worship Service. Rehearsal: Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. (Van transportation from schools)
- Seraphim Singers - Sing twice a month for worship. Mid High Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:45-6:30 p.m.; Senior High Rehearsal: Sundays from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Chi Rho Ringers - Play occasionally for worship. Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:00-5:45 p.m.
- Alpha Omega Ringers - Play occasionally for worship. Rehearsal: Sundays from 5:45-6:30 p.m.
