God’s Special Gifts

Gods_Special_Gifts

God's Special Gifts is a support group for parents of children with special needs that also encompasses the children and provides activities by trained volunteers for the children so the parents can participate in the support group meeting.

Mission Statement

Mark 9:37 reads: “Whoever welcomes one of these children in My name welcomes Me,” which is the group’s mission. Psalm 34:18 says “God is close to the broken hearted and those that are crushed in spirit and Verse 19 continues: “A righteous man may have many troubles, but God will see him through them all.” These words are the foundation for this group.

Vision and Goals

Parents with special needs children go through so many trials and tribulations with all of the sickness, developmental delays, and other needs of their children.  The best way to survive all of this is with God who will see us through the tough times as long as we believe and pray everyday. God does answer prayers, maybe not in the way we see as clear, but in His way. Sometimes we need a reminder that God has a special plan for our children and we need the support of others to remind us of this.

A special needs child can bring a different and challenging lifestyle to any family, but all children need love to survive.  There are many different issues to be explored as we learn about the many different special needs of our children.  It is important to think of the children and families as having special needs and challenges instead of focusing on disabilities.

The group’s main goal will be to nurture those families that need support and resources in dealing with the special needs children as well as to inform and educate them on the different special needs.

Core Values

ACHIEVE means the following as the core values for God’s Special Gifts:
